I enjoyed reading your reflective account of life's journey - and the hoop-dance is maybe serendipity at work, since I am looking for a new skill-challenge to keep me supple - and it appeals to my dim and distant training in the Alexander Technique. It reminds me too of mime.

We have no-money-involved community here (Portugal) around weekly weaving (I used to make hand-weaving looms) and monthly food & plant swops.

Thanks for reading Josh - that word serendipity jumps out at me, my mum is a master weaver! She has restored old looms and has a website to sell her rugs and crochet bags and documents her craft over many years on that site. Here is the link if you wanted to take a look, annesrugs.com  and I would so recommend the hoop for a new movement journey, it has kept me enthralled for 15 years now. I clicked on one of your poems and listened to ‘I put down my book’ and immediately I knew your voice and how much information this conveys :-)

Thank you for having a listen-read of my poems. I post one a fortnight, with an occasional extra in between. Having looked at annesrugs.com I can see your mum is indeed a master weaver. Veronika (my wife) and I went to Australia with our then new 'yarnshifter' loom, way back in 2002 I think. Is there any advice you can give me about buying my first hoop(s)? Many thanks, Josh.

Lovely performance. Mesmerizing!

I can totally relate to what you are saying about tribe. There is a deep longing for community, many people are feeling it, but it's not so easy to 'get it going', apart from in small momentary connections here and there.

Here is her post specifically on finding feral. https://chickenfoot.substack.com/p/hanging-out-in-the-balance. Collapse Acceptance is the topic over all. I met Bertus on a course called 'Surviving the Future', and I know Karen of Chickenfoot Ranch from a 'post doom, no gloom women's group! Also I just wrote a long response to one of your posts about Freedom and Will - but I lost it! Oh well, for another time. It was a wonderful article, was the first one I read.
